just got back from new orleans... one of my fave cities. plenty of parties, gambling, cocktails, men & fun.  let the good times roll.  and they did. i enjoyed every moment of it. sorors took over the city and painted the town crimson and cream. :-).  my favs for the week... acme oyster house who has the best chargrilled oyster ever! also the oyster rockfeller soup is to die for. hand grandas on bourbon were the truth.  sing sing bar is still a fav on bourbon.  last but not least you must check on the bar next to the beach to ride the bull!  fab times ladies! NAWLINS might be a yearly destination.

livin' for my weekends...

this weekend was jam packed full of antitics.  i must say this was definitely a very COUGARIC weekend...
friday i found myself at an auc party (not on purpose) no offense to the auc crowd (afterall i did get my mba from cau...) but i dont typically frequent places where i am the only one who can drink LEGALLY...lmao.  still made the best of it and did it big.
line of the evening: "you can babysit me anytime"
saturday was rather dope... hit the street with my sorors.  first spot after my gym session was a day party at leopard lounge.  i think day parties are an excellent idea for lazy september saturdays...however i wasnt really feeling the leopard lounge location.  leopard lounge really need better venilation.  its a hot box to say the least.  midtown party girls... beware of two creepy twins buying drinks.  they followed my girl around all day long!!! next stop brandy's gator bbq.  i had an excellent time hanging out with my gator crew at the bbq.  it feels so great to go into a room get a ton of love from your undergrad fam and see everyone smiling and happy.  all the kids were running around having a blast and we all enjoyed watching the gators kick ass!!! what can i say its great to be a florida gator!!!  final destination: uptown saturday... first off i must say the uptown crew is not very friendly.  i definitely was not feeling love. my girls and i got a cold shoulder at the door because she apparently sent our names in to the wrong VIP list.  once we FINALLY made it in the music was great but the atmosphere was not so hot.  definitely not worth going to with ur girls but great place to go dancing all night with ur boo because the music was dope!  make sure you are on the RIGHT vip list.  lol.
sunday was pretty lax... went to church and brunch.  new brunch spot: marlow's tavern on west peachtree. thanks for te wonderful suggestion zette.they have $15 bottomless mimosas. while stolling out to my car i  ran into my bff zandi and her hubby next door @ the prickly pear.  wonderful place to go for margaritas kids... next stop ballys for my usual work out session (i was a good girl last weekend!).  then the rest of the evening was pretty chill. spent time with the people i love...
dont have a case of the mondays this labor day... i had a wonderful time running around the city with my girl zette.  i miss u bff!!! we hung out with the cutest baby boy ever and can you believe this kid was actually flirting with me.  lol.  next stop... pf changs.  ummmm... fried rice was awesome but everyone else food at the table was even better than mine.  cheated on my lifestlye change with a two mini cupcake cookies but they were wonderful! headed out once again to lithonia to see my fam.  had a faboulous conversation with my mom and then made my way back into the city.  got the best advice ever... from zette homeboy antonio (who is now my homie) about men and then made my way back north to my north dekalb batcave.  definitely lovin' my weekend.

weekend highlights...

this weekend was surprisingly full of out of town guest and new discoveries.  friday i did take out sushi, ice tea vodka and weeds (...finally caught up) with my date for the night. enjoyed the night.  no real date notes here.  saturday was a lovely city day.  meet some friends (stani and supi) at rosebud my new fav brunch spot in the highlands. fyi... rosebud has $20 carafes of mimosa. chatted away about life and then went back to kirkwood to view Stani's amazing home.

dropped the top on my car and then headed to pick up my girl turkesa on the westside for a little retail therapy.  yes fans typically i am not a huge fan of atlantic station but vistors to the city love to stop there so we hit atlantic station.  surprisingly i found the most amazing pewter sandals at nine west for 24 bucks.  then we went to strip.  i was celebrating good times (as usual) and had fried lobster & mac and cheese that i have denied myself all week long. good was great and the company was excellent.

so today i'm looking forward to finishing up some weekend work, getting a bid from the last contractor i have left to review, brunch with some of my fav sorors & dropping my my rents house for a little qt with the fam.

girls before boys...

todays thought: do women treasure their friendships with other women over their relationship with men? hmmm... well this week i found myself in this situation. one of my sorors initially invited me to an event with her but then called me later and canceled because her boo is in town and wants to go to the game. honestly i was cool with it because i am use to it but it brings up that question why do women constantly compromise their own personal lives for men.

i am not going to lie and say that i have not been guilty of the same thing. i use to do the same thing every week for the past three years. however now i realize that when your crying over him later... your girls are the ones holding your hand while he is moving on. i think the part that baffles my mind about this is that i asked a guy friend of mine and he told me that if he already invited his boys then he would have told his girl no... hmmm... so why do guys have a bros before hos philosophy?

this brings me to another point that i think is even deeper... i think as women we often have convenience friendships. we have a ton of friends if we are single (think about ur single friends they have a ton of people to kick it with...) but when we get booed up its all about him. as a single lady i have to admit i am alot more active in the scene now than i was last year because i am not booed up. however... men don't do this? they hang out with their boys regardless of their current relationship status. thinking maybe the male perspective on this one might be the winner.

restaurant week hits the atl...

starting this saturday... its restaurant week time. this is definitely a great time for foodies like myself to try a few of the best restaurants in midtown for a fraction of the price. $25 (or this week's mani/pedi budget) gets u 3 yummy courses until next sunday (sept 6th). some of my favs on the list are: one midtown kitchen, two urban licks, fritti & ecco.

the girls and i have not finalized our list but it will include three spots before i hit the road next week to do it up in houston. so if your in the "a" this weekend please make sure to check out some of these spots. please make ur reservations in advance it is a recession so i am sure everyone will be out this weekend taking advantage.
